The Hospital’s Policies
Appointment Policy – Emergency cases will always receive top priority followed by patients with previously scheduled appointments.
Payment Policy – Financial responsibility for all pets brought to Main Street Animal Hospital is assumed by the owner or guardian.
Payment is due when services are rendered. We accept Cash, Debit Cards, Visa, Mastercard, Discover and personal checks with proper ID.
A written estimate is provided for each client prior to admission of a pet. A deposit will be required for all pets admitted to the hospital for treatments. The balance of the bill must be paid on discharge.
Patient Arrival Policy – Please have your pet securely restrained.
Dogs should have a properly fitted collar and leash. If your pet is aggressive or hard to control, feel free to come in first to check the waiting room for other pets or ask for assistant.
Cats should have a halter and leash, carriers, pillowcases or catbags.
Birds should be in boxes, carriers, or their cage. There could be other pets in our waiting room or any other unforeseen circumstance that may startle your pet, if they are on your shoulder.
Reptiles, Pocket Pets and all other exotics should also be properly housed or restrained for safety.
Admissions Policy – Patients coming in for surgery should be dropped off between 8:00am and 9:00am. Your pet should be fasted before surgery. Their food and water should be picked up by midnight the night before. Rabbits, birds, and small exotics need not be fasted.
Please allow a little extra time for paperwork. You will be asked to sign a Hospital Authorization form, and check off various options for your pet. We eagerly suggest that you opt for pain management for all surgeries, to decrease post-op pain. Make sure we have the correct numbers to reach you during the day for followup communication, or questions that arise before surgery. Most surgeries are completed between 12:00PM and 3:00PM, barring emergencies. We will call you with a progress report after surgery, and to arrange for a go home time.
Prescription Refills – If refill of medication or diet is needed, please call 24 hours ahead. The doctor will make sure that the prescription can be refilled and prepare it for you, so it is ready upon your arrival.
We are pleased to have recently implemented an internet service called Pet Portals. Using Pet Portals you can request prescription refills online.
All pets will require yearly examinations and possibly blood testing in order to fill prescriptions.
